This Year’s Flu Vaccine

Well, unlike previous years, I can officially say that this year’s flu vaccine did not work on me. I had the shot about 5 weeks ago, and yesterday came down with a full-blown case of the flu. The fact that I am actually up and typing is only an indication of how angry I am about it!

Maybe it would have been worse without the shot, which is a chilling thought. Hopefully they will get it right next year. I really don’t think the flu is taken seriously enough.

Jan 25 – Note: confirmation that it doesn’t work, from the CDC itself:
“The preliminary findings presented in this report demonstrated no or very low effectiveness of TIV (Trivalent inactivated influenza vaccine) against ILI. (Influenza Like Illness)”
