Set Excel to allow returns within cells

March 25, 2005
Applications

By default, Excel sees the enter key as a signal to move down a row. To set it to allow the enter key to create a return or line-break within the text inside the cell, select:

Tools:Options:Edit tab: UNselect Move selection after Enter.

To make hard returns you may have to use alt-enter.
