Canon MX880 series printer won’t scan because of error: USB cable is disconnected
When trying to scan with a Canon MX 880 scanner over wifi, you may receive this message:
Cannot scan for these reasons:
- scanner is turned off
- USB cable is disconnected
Please check and try again.
Scanner driver will be closed.
The scanner driver is most likely already installed, or you wouldn’t have gotten this far. This is a settings issue.
Find the Applications >Canon Utilities > IJ Network Scanner Selector EX folder and open the IJ Network Scanner Selector EX application.
Do Not Use is most likely selected. Instead, choose your scanner as shown.
Next, Then open the scanning application MP Navigator EX 4.1 (probably located both in your launchpad, and in the Applications > Canon Utilities folder. Click Preferences.
In the Preferences window, select MX880 series Network from the Product Name: dropdown menu.
Click OK and try scanning again – it should work now.
