Cardiac Surgery Critical Care Training

Competency

Upon completion the Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant will gain insight into protocols commonly used in the cardiac surgery patient. Furthermore, they will acquire appropriate management strategies of patients with atrial fibrillation and CAD, as well as critical care issues of Infection, Respiratory Failure, Renal Failure and Sepsis.

Critical Behaviors

  • Understand Cardiac Surgery protocols and pre-op teaching.
  • Understand atrial fibrillation and CAD as it relates to the cardiac surgery patient.
  • Understand, identify, and treat Infections, Respiratory Failure, and Renal Failure and Sepsis.

  3. Attain 80% or better grade on Competency quizzes.
