Safari 3 on PPC iMac - Slow!

I've seen a lot of talk on the web about the slowness of Safari 3 on Windows. Am I the only one who finds Safari 3 on OS X slow also?

I have a 2 GHz PPC G5 iMac, not a great computer but respectable, but I guess it cannot handle the new Safari. This sluggishness is starting to make me wish I had never allowed the update.

  • Searching a page with the new search widget is slow.
  • Displaying the new search widget itself is slow.
  • Ajax pages like Gmail are slow.
  • Scrolling down long pages is very slow.
  • Displaying framed pages is slow.

    • Is this Apple's way of telling me to buy a new computer?
